It addresses the unique troubleshooting needs of small and medium-sized enterprises by combining six essential network management functions in a single, easy-to-manage appliance. Sniffer^® Investigator is a flexible solution for managing network traffic between the Internet and corporate networks or between network segments and users. When problems are reported, Sniffer^® Investigator can jump into action and provide a bird's eye view of the situation instantly, assisting with defining whether the origin of the problem occurs on the present segment, or if the Sniffer^® Investigator needs to move to a different segment.

• Turnkey Solution. Sniffer^® Investigator runs on a dedicated lightweight laptop, providing network managers with a ready-to-use, turnkey solution for the highest quality and most reliable network analysis and monitoring.
• Expert Analysis. Sniffer^® Investigator provides Expert analysis technology providing real-time root cause analysis to pinpoint network problems and make recommendations on potential problems. The Expert system increases your productivity by spotting over 200 network anomalies automatically.
• Application Response Time (ART). Network managers can easily baseline client-server port-based applications over time using ART with Sniffer^® Investigator. Graphical data relating to ART can take proactive measures in order to avoid future congestion on the network.
• Protocol Decodes. Sniffer^® Investigator provides the most comprehensive set of protocol decodes from the major industry vendors such as Cisco, Microsoft, Novell, Apple, and Oracle. In addition, Sniffer^® Investigator supports a rich subset of the TCP/IP protocol suite.
• Filters and Triggers. Easy-to-use filter capabilities based on monitoring data. Creating filters is simple and can help during a security attack, giving you the ability to see specific traffic you need in the shortest amount of time. Triggers are useful for detecting elusive or intermittent problems that may occur at any given time. Triggering can take action when the problem occurs, save the information to a disk and alert the technician automatically for a proactive approach to network analysis.
• Simultaneous Monitor and Analyze. Sniffer^® Investigator provides the ability to simultaneously monitor, analyze and even playback network traffic concurrently with the same user interface. The intuitive user interface is the same as the other Sniffer Technologies solutions, such as Sniffer^® Portable.
• Sniffer^® Reporter 4.2. Sniffer^® Investigator includes Sniffer^® Reporter 4.2 capabilities at no additional cost. Sniffer^® Reporter provides graphs and charts enabling IT professionals to baseline and trend network segments that are critical to assess performance and business needs.
• Sniffer^® Voice Option. Sniffer^® Voice is an optional value-added package that integrates with Sniffer^® Investigator. Sniffer^® Investigator is a self-contained turnkey system with preloaded software components and does not have minimum software or hardware system requirements.
