Contivity 600 Secure IP Services Gateway
The Contivity 600 platform adapts to several roles in secure VPNs: (1) customer-premises device to connect branch offices with each other and with headquarters; (2) the basis for small hub-and-spoke or mesh extranet or branch-to-branch applications; or (3) affordable headquarters hub for businesses requiring up to 50 IPSec tunnels and multiple WAN connections.
Nortel Networks announces the second phase of its Secure Routing Technology (SRT) initiative for Contivity. This includes extension of SRT to Voice over IP (VoIP), wireless LAN, and wire-based LAN applications. Contivity and SRT can be used to establish encrypted IP VPN paths (or tunnels) for these applications to securely transmit data across both the Internet, as well as LAN environments. Extension of SRT to Voice over IP, wireless LAN and Secure LAN applications adds a security component otherwise missing from these solutions.
Nortel Networks is also announcing availability of software by which Contivity can be deployed as a "secure IP router" in addition to that of a high-performance VPN gateway. Other key features in this software release include frame relay support, which helps Contivity address a much wider range of enterprise WAN environments, as well as a Quick Start utility to facilitate ease of deploying Contivity in remote sites.
SRT is a major component of Nortel Networks Unified Security Architecture and represents a powerful solution for scaling secure IP services within enterprise networks.

Key Features:
- Cost-effectively extends secure VPN remote access to locations needing up to 50 tunnels -- serving as either a hub or spoke in small VPNs, or basis for mesh extranets
- Offers complete site-to-multi-site VPN features (the same VPN features, software, and administration as high-end Contivity systems) in a compact, low-cost desktop package
- Provides IP routing, IPSec tunneling, firewall protection, authentication, and encryption in one box
- Supports stateful firewall capability, which accepts or denies traffic based on full examination of incoming and outgoing packets -- and packet filtering with unique filtering profiles by user, group, or connection
- Supports centralized management via a secure, encrypted Internet tunnel -- using Contivity Configuration Manager, Web-browser, or command-line interface
