Contivity 200 Secure IP Services Gateway
Contivity 200 Series VPN Switches provide low-cost secure connectivity to the Internet or managed IP networks.
Consisting of Contivity 221 and Contivity 251 models, they are designed for telecommuters and small
offices/home offices with VPN, stateful firewall, URL/content filtering and optional integrated ADSL in a compact easy-to-manage platform.
Nortel Networks announces the second phase of its Secure Routing Technology (SRT) initiative for Contivity. This includes extension of SRT to Voice over IP (VoIP), wireless LAN, and wire-based LAN applications. Contivity and SRT can be used to establish encrypted IP VPN paths (or tunnels) for these applications to securely transmit data across both the Internet, as well as LAN environments. Extension of SRT to Voice over IP, wireless LAN and Secure LAN applications adds a security component otherwise missing from these solutions.
Nortel Networks is also announcing availability of software by which Contivity can be deployed as a "secure IP router" in addition to that of a high-performance VPN gateway. Other key features in this software release include frame relay support, which helps Contivity address a much wider range of enterprise WAN environments, as well as a Quick Start utility to facilitate ease of deploying Contivity in remote sites.
SRT is a major component of Nortel Networks Unified Security Architecture and represents a powerful solution for scaling secure IP services within enterprise networks.

Key Features:
- Advanced IPsec capabilities with up to five VPN tunnel capacity addresses site-to-site VPN needs of small offices and telecommuters.
- Full stateful inspection firewall with up to 50 rules, denial of service protection, logging, and e-mail alerts prevent unwanted network intrusions.
- Content/URL filtering blocks java applets, cookies and web proxies so that network administrators can tailor remote site access policies to be consistent with rest of the enterprise.
- Integrated 4-port 10/100 Ethernet switch allows direct connection of user PCs and LAN devices without the need for a separate Ethernet switch or hub.
- Integrated ADSL option conforming to international standards allows global deployments.
- Contivity VPN Client emulation mode simplifies remote set-up by emulating "VPN client" to another Contivity device. IP attributes are dynamically assigned and existing remote access VPN information can be re-used.
- Dial back-up through console port allows continued data transmission in cases where the primary IP connection goes away.
- PPPoE, DHCP, DNS and NAT support all simplify deployment over the Internet, as well as broadband DSL connections.
