Success Story: AMK Delivers Customized Training to Bell Nexxia
Bell Nexxia is Canada's largest provider of innovative and integrated communications solutions. As Bell Canada's answer to the age of global business, Bell Nexxia owns and operates a seamless, coast-to-coast IP-Broadband network that has over 100 points of presence in key locations throughout Canada and the United States.
The Situation
Bell Nexxia was to deliver an end-to-end solution - based on Nortel Networks' Contivity family - providing all the gateway equipment, network connectivity and transport, network management, and client software needed to provide a VPN service. To ensure success of this new service everyone from the installation crews to the third level support personnel required detailed familiarity with the solution. Each group was geographically separated and had a disparity of knowledge gaps both in technology and products. Dealing with a support organization, like Bell Nexxia's, the standard 4-day sessions were insufficient; a customized program was necessary to ensure success. Bell Nexxia needed a training partner that could deliver on all fronts.
The Solution
AMK identified the needs of the organization, the group, and the individual to deliver the Contivity solution. The program consisted of a long-term curriculum:
- Half-day sessions to ensure that everyone was able to attend.
- Each session ran over a two-week period that enabled to student to repeat a particular session.
- Targeted technology sessions for each group.
- The labs addressed the specific job requirements for each group.
- A mentoring program was offered to reinforce objectives and enabled certification.
- The courses were delivered in Toronto, London, and Ottawa, Ontario.
The Result
The Bell Nexxia service is a success with a high number of participants achieving their product certification. The success of this program led Bell Nexxia to continue this style of education for the Passport 8000 series, BayStack family, and Alteon Web Switch products. AMK delivered this training to almost 400 of Bell Gateways post and pre-sales employees; also with a great level of satisfaction and success.
